The Glock 17 was the first pistol model designed and made by the Austrian company Glock. The Glock is a short-recoil operated self-loading pistol in which lock-up is based on the barrel locking into the ejection port of the slide and tilting downwards at the rear as the action opens. One curiosity of the pistol is that it has no hammer. In its normal state the gun is always partly cocked. There is no separate safety lever, only a trigger safety. An automatic firing pin block prevents the pistol from discharging at any point other than when the trigger is pressed properly.
