The primary job of backing is to give the angler extra metres when there is a powerful salmon, sea trout or other hard-fighting predator on the other end. On top of that, backing fills the spool of the fly reel, which increases the reel's effective diameter and speeds up your rate of retrieve. The backing lines in our range are made from fibres that stand up well to abrasion and to the pressure that builds around the spool.
