Fishing glasses/Polarised glasses
– Everything you need to know
Fishing glasses are different from regular sunglasses. They have been specially developed for fishing and for other activities close to the water. Really good fishing glasses elevate the experience of fishing and allow you to fish for long periods without over-exerting your eyes.
Leech live and breathe fishing, so they are well aware of how important it is to have really good glasses. Their polarised glasses feature UV400 protection, which provides 100% protection against UVA, UVB and UVC radiation. In addition to this, they allow you to see colours more exactly, clearly and with better contrast. This is an important condition for spending days and days by the water and for ensuring that you continue to enjoy good eyesight for years to come.
Fishing glasses or polarised glasses
Fishing glasses or polarised glasses are sunglasses fitted with polarised glass, which functions as a polarised filter and ensures that only a part of the light rays make it through to your eyes. The way polarisation works is by breaking down the harmful UV light and dispersing it in different directions. As a result, the contrasts become stronger and the colours clearer. It also cuts down on glare when only a part of the light reaches your eyes. Water is often the source of a lot of glare, so good fishing glasses are important when you want to spend the day fishing or to taking part in other activities on or near the water. Too much glare over a long period can impair your eyesight – and can be dangerous in the long term. Polarised glasses reduce this risk. If you spend a lot of time near the water, polarised glasses are quite simply essential to protect your eyes.
What are the advantages of polarised glasses?
Polarised glasses have a great many advantages over and above reducing the risk of impaired eyesight. Polarised glasses allow you to see more clearly through the water – which is great, especially when you are fishing in shallow water because it enables you to see both the fish and your line better. You can then change your position and adapt your fishing style, which should ideally lead to more bites. Leech polarised glasses are of extremely high quality, which means that they will last for a long, long time. It is well worth investing in a pair of really good sunglasses when you spend a lot of time near the water.
Which fishing glasses should I choose?
We sell a wide range of fishing glasses. All are fitted with polarised glass, but there are some differences between the different models. For some models, the differences are purely in the design so that you can choose a pair of sunglasses that is not only functional, but also looks good on you. Other models come with different colours in the glass. The different colours present a range of advantages of their own.
Yellow lenses work fine in most situations. In weak light, cloudy weather, mist and twilight, yellow lenses are the best alternative of all. Yellow lenses also provide sharp contrasts and are therefore a good choice in winter when there is snow and ice outside.
Copper lenses work well in most weather conditions, amplifying the contrasts in both sunny and cloudy weather. Copper lenses are all-round lenses and the most popular choice in their range. These lenses come with several mirror coating options that determine the level of contrast and how much light they let in.
Grey lenses are ideal if you are looking for polarisation without high contrast. They are an excellent choice if you want a comfortable level of light in strong sun.
Because of the advantages offered by the different lenses, it can be a good idea to think about where you prefer to fish and what you need most from your fishing glasses. It is sometimes enough to buy one pair, but we recommend buying an extra pair of polarised glasses if you fish in different weather conditions. This will give you the best chance of seeing as clearly as possible and enjoying the best experience every time. Over and above the clear advantages of the different lenses, it is also worth considering which lens you find most comfortable. The whole point of using Leech fishing glasses is for you to be comfortable. Particularly because you should want to wear them every time you go fishing.
