Genuine Trapper Mink Trap (for mink, marten, stoat) is made from durable galvanized wire mesh, providing long service life and resistance to corrosion. The wire thickness (Ø) is 2 mm, and the mesh size is 1” x 1”. The strong wire and small mesh size prevent captured predators from escaping by biting through or forcing themselves through the mesh.
The trap door is made of sturdy galvanized sheet metal. It closes quickly with a spring-loaded mechanism and locks automatically once shut. The solid metal door prevents escape, as it will not bend like mesh doors sometimes can. The door end is reinforced with a 4 mm galvanized wire support.
The Trapper mink trap should always be well camouflaged when set. It can be easily covered with grass or similar natural materials to create a den-like or tunnel effect, encouraging curious predators to enter following the scent of bait. The bait should always be placed behind the treadle plate so it cannot be reached from outside, ensuring the animal steps on the trigger when attempting to access the bait. During trap checks, avoid leaving human scent. Observe from a distance that the bait is in place and the trap is set (door open). Replace spoiled bait when necessary.
The trap can also be camouflaged with matte dark green and black spray paint for better concealment. For winter trapping, matte white spray paint can be used. It is recommended to mark your name on the metal door (e.g., with a paint marker) to deter unauthorized use.
The Trapper mink trap is spacious (61 × 18 × 20 cm), making it more inviting for small predators compared to tighter traps.

Small predators such as feral mink, marten, and stoat can significantly reduce waterfowl populations in wetland areas. Predator control through trapping in bird wetlands yields strong results, often visible immediately in improved breeding success. Species such as ducks, cranes, and swans benefit notably from this management.
Targeting adult, breeding-capable individuals typically begins in March, prior to the breeding season. Feral mink may be trapped year-round; however, females with dependent young must not be taken between May 1 and July 31. In spring, traps are best set near open water patches, and during ice-free periods along shorelines (lakes, ponds, rivers, drainage ditches). It is also effective to keep traps set under docks or boathouses at summer cottages. Fish offal is recommended as bait, but specific lure scents normally provide best results.
Monitoring: Traps must be checked frequently enough to ensure that any non-target animals can be released in time.
