The choice of a shotgun cartridge is influenced by your own shooting style and by the characteristics of the gun. Only by testing will you find the shotgun cartridge that suits you. When you shoot a new cartridge, test it with several different chokes before heading out hunting, whenever that is possible.
In our range you will find rifle cartridges for wildfowling, for big game and deer hunting and for range shooting. The intended use of a rifle cartridge is determined by how the bullet works and by its muzzle velocity. We recommend testing how well a cartridge suits your own gun before you head out on a hunt or to a competition.
Rifle bullets fall roughly into the following classes: FMJ, or full metal jacket, cartridges are particularly suited to range practice and wildfowling, while cartridges loaded with expanding bullets suit big game hunting. Expanding bullets can be divided further into several subcategories, such as copper bullets, varmint bullets and bonded and non-bonded bullets.
Range practice generally uses a rifle cartridge loaded with an FMJ, or full metal jacket, bullet, because a bullet of this type does not expand on impact but stays intact, leaving a clean hole where it hits. Full metal jacket bullets are usually lighter than expanding bullets, since hitting range targets does not call for as effective a bullet as hunting big game does. Naturally, you will also find rimfire cartridges for hunting and for the range with us.
Cartridges with a full metal jacket bullet are also used in wildfowling, where the aim is to minimise meat damage. Shooting distances in wildfowling are often longer than in other forms of hunting, so the ballistic properties and flight of the bullet become all the more important. For wildfowling we recommend fairly fast, full metal jacket rifle cartridges, because of the small amount of meat damage and the flat trajectory.
To buy ammunition you must hold a valid firearm possession permit. When buying ammunition, the customer must provide a copy of the firearm possession permit (both sides) and a copy of an identity document.
